La nazionale di basket americana ha appena conquistato la medaglia d’oro alle olimpiadi di Londra 2012, battendo in finale una grande Spagna per 107-100. Vittoria tutt’altro che facile, come dimostra anche il punteggio finale, gara punto a punto per tutti i 40 minuti effettivi di gioco. E’ stata una bella dimostrazione di quanto la pallacanestro sia un gioco emozionante e ricco di interesse. Felice e soddisfatto il numeroso pubblico presente, che ha applaudito le grandi stelle del team U.S.A., tra i quali Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, ma che ha tributato scroscianti applausi anche alla squadra spagnola, in special modo a campioni del calibro di Pau Gasol, Serge Ibaka e Juan Navarro. Una bella festa dello sport, una bella festa di grande basket. A presto.

The United States national basketball team won the gold medal at the 2012 London Olympic Games,  defeating Spain 107-100. The victory was not easy, as evidenced by the final score. The fans were happy and satisfied and applauded the great stars of the USA team, including Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant. For its entire history, the goal of the United States men’s national basketball team has been nothing less than the gold medal. The 2012 team, while not living up to some of their pre-Olympics hype, delivered just that, beating Spain 107-100 in a game that was unexpectedly close. Led by Kevin Durant’s 30 points, and a number of key shots by LeBron James, the United States endured a first half where the Spanish outside shooters could do no wrong and an epic third quarter from Pau Gasol in which the Lakers star seemed to score at will. A beautiful celebration of sport, a beautiful show of great basketball.
